From the organizers of the Community and Unity Festival:
"Tara Anura Candidate for MO House District 122 is the co-founder Pro-Choice Mid-Missouri.She carried the citizen's initiative petition to end Missouri's cruel abortion ban, participating in one of the most significant petitions of our time. As a result of hers and many others’ efforts, 380k+ Missourians got Amendment 3 onto the ballot to protect our reproductive rights and privacy. Tara has spoken up many times at the Rolla City Council against hate toward our Black and LGBTQ+ friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. With other community members, she stopped extremists from banning a book at the Rolla Public Library. She volunteered with Missouri Jobs with Justice to get minimum wage increases and sick leave on the Nov. ballot. She asked Phelps Co residents to join Missourians in pushing our Senate to restore Public Library funding that Republican Representatives canceled. She has fostered a growing, working environment at the Democratic Headquarters office in Rolla, MO, and has gotten the community excited about voting, again! Tara is running for Missouri State Representative to fight for our rights, our democracy, and our future. She is a lifelong Missourian, a public educator, and a civil servant who believes in the power of We, the People. She was raised in the Ozarks and Southeast Missouri by a family of military service members, public educators, business owners, and farmers who love the outdoors. She learned the values of persistence, honesty, and service from them and her chosen family. Her campaign is the catalyst for The Compassion Rebellion: “With fierce compassion, we protect everyone's right to shelter, food, clean air, and water, fair wages, education, healthcare and the dignity they deserve.”We are grateful to have her as a wonderful guest speaker at Community & Unity!"
