Primary day is a very different experience on this side of the ballot today was Although I did not face an opponent for the nomination it was a litmus test of how receptive the voters of this district are a new candidate and how well I have been doing with voter outreach. The day went quite well, I felt well received. Even more importantly, I saw A LOT of people I had met at the doors, and many were excited to see me there. It was a day of familiar faces and encouragement.
It was a long day, 13-hours. I greeted voters from the time the doors opened to when they closed.
Final results show that I came within 133 votes of the seated Rep, a republican candidate who has incumbency, institutional power, money, support, and name recognition. I did this by knocking on doors and talking to people. My goal is and always has been to find out what the voters of this district want and need from government, and I am going to continue to do that for the next 89 days.
