Conversations with a constituents today centered around drug prices and
availability. The person I spoke to has a family member who needed a
medication that required visiting NINE pharmacies before finding one
that could fill the prescription. For a single month’s worth of
medication. Many people in Missouri spend a great deal of mental and
emotional energy, time, and money, simply seeking to acquire the
medications they need. These barriers to accessing needed medication are
prohibitive to many and draining to many more. We have seen what
happens in cases of under regulation, little to no guidance, and systems
that favor pharmacies and drug companies over the people who need these
things. Accessible healthcare benefits the whole of society, we exist
largely in shared spaces and for that reason collective wellness
significantly impacts individual health.
