Clay Economic Development Council

This morning I attended the Clay Economic Development Council's candidate forum. The event was help in the i-Werkz building. i-Werkz is really innovative space offering tremendous opportunity and resources for small businesses. Shirley Mata for Missouri and I got a tour of the facilities after the forum concluded. The i-Werkz building is repurposed space that previously served as a Kroger warehouse but has been significantly renovated, in large part by the owner himself who used his skills and innovation to come up with some very creative ways to manage logistical issues like doors that weigh several hundred pounds. As an applied anthropologist I was deeply impressed. The forum itself offered an opportunity for candidates to talk about our backgrounds, our perspective on the purpose of government and our strategies for helping new and expanding businesses. I appreciated the opportunity to present my own perspective and to learn something from those offered by the other candidates present.
