A Night in Clay County was a great chance to connect with people from Clay County (and other parts Missouri) to talk about where we are now, and how do we get to where we need to be. Where we are right now, is a state where; women do not control their own bodies, access to all kinds of reproductive healthcare is rapidly declining, our kindergarteners learn how to respond to active shooters, Christian Nationalists are trying to dismantle the public education system, legislators are actively attacking people in the LGBQTIA+ community and more. But we are motivated! We are driven, our strength, as always, is our connections and our shared support.
It was a rare treat to get dressed up and go out with my husband and share an inspiring evening. I had the privilege of sharing the experience with a couple of my friends who have been supporting my campaign and helping me with voter outreach. This is a long, hard road for all of us candidates, but the work is necessary. We are standing against the short-sighted selfishness and overreach of legislators who spend their time focused on eroding our rights and building their own power, wealth, and prestige. Defending the basic rights of the people of Missouri against these attacks is well worth the long days, long nights, and endless doors.
WE can do this. WE WILL do this. Democracy is team sport and my money, my miles, and my mind are on the Blue Wave that is rolling through our state and our country. People are tired of intolerance, meanness, indifference etc. But we are not condemned to remain here. Our strength is in our community and our solidarity, our voice, our vote is our power.
I saw old friends, made new ones, I won the 420 basket in the raffle, and I got a highpaw from my favorite 4-legged campaign worker, Liberty Bell! Good night!
