David served three years in the United States Navy Seabees. After returning home, he pursued his education while serving as a volunteer firefighter/EMT at the Antonia Fire Department.
Many years later, David moved to De Soto to raise a family. He continued to follow his volunteer spirit by serving the city of Olympian Village as an Alderman and as a Troop Leader/Volunteer with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.
As an Alderman, David focused his attention on city infrastructure by working hard to get the roads repaved as well as to repair and improve the city's aging sewer system.
In the Scouting programs, David endeavored to teach the hard-earned lessons he gained in the military and the fire service to the next generation of young men and women. Eventually he even served on the River Trails District (Jefferson County) Eagle Scout Review Board.
